Event Description

This East Coast Black Age of Comics, Incorporated
(ECBACC, Inc.) workshop is designed to teach the tools
necessary to become a professional comic book illustrator.
ECBACC, Inc. recognizes the disparity between the
numbers of African Americans with the potential and skill to
become comic book creators and the few that actually do.
The numbers of African American comic book
professionals that are able to successfully introduce comic
book characters of African descent are even fewer. In an
effort to increase the number of qualified Black
professionals and Black heroes in the comic book industry,
this ECBACC portfolio-building workshop is offered in
collaboration with The Frator Heru Institute / First World
Komix, Inc. Participants [17 yrs old & up] will be taught how
to enhance their drawing skills, apply for copyrights,
self-publish and properly present themselves as
knowledgeable professionals in the expanding comic book
industry. Comic book illustrating is a marketable and
lucrative profession. This workshop is for those select few
who are serious and focused on the goal of exploring a
career in comic book creating. Participants will be asked to
submit 5 non-returnable samples of their work at the time of
registration.
