This exhibition and sale of paintings, prints, and drawings, by the Harlem based Weusi Artists Collective, illuminates the enormous aesthetic and social impact these artists have had individually and collectively, and the ways in which they helped shift the paradigm of Diasporic artistic traditions from the margins to the mainstream.
Founded in 1965, the Weusi artists are considered progenitors of the Black Arts Movement and are among the first to make African imagery a central part of their work.
As a collective, Weusi has exerted an immeasurable influence on what we now consider mainstream culture, from museums and academia to contemporary art and fashion.
